CEN Workshop for Emulsion Fuels formally kicks-in

Emulsion Fuels are an environmental technology that ensures a sharp reduction in polluting air emissions. An increasing number of vehicles – particularly city buses – use Emulsion Fuel technology as an immediate solution for the improvement of urban air quality in the EU. However, the absence of a pan-European standard results in trading obstacles due to the fragmentation of, and distortions in, the European market.

The proposer of the Workshop is EEFMA, the European Emulsion Fuel Manufacturers’ Association, a trade association formed to promote the use of Emulsion Fuels across Europe.

 CEN Workshop 19 - Water in diesel fuel emulsion for use in internal combustion engines

Emulsion Fuel technology has been developed for applications in diesel engines aimed at reducing polluting emissions. To date, Emulsion Fuels are the only fuels that reduce simultaneously emissions of nitrogen oxides, particulates and carbon dioxide of diesel engines without the need for any mechanical modifications. Emulsion Fuels are as safe as commercial diesel fuels and bring a high level of protection against corrosion and wear in the engine.
